A Lot To Be Thankful For
Last Thursday was Thanksgiving in the US. For those that don’t know, Thanksgiving is traditionally enjoyed by millions who gather to eat turkey until overcome by a deep sleep – also know as a food coma – and awaking the next day to watch American football. However, it is also a time to reflect on the past year and to appreciate our friends, families and good fortunes. For the past two years, I’ve had the pleasure of running MyLifeIsAverage and MyLifeIsG, so I have a lot to be thankful for. You may find yourself asking, “What is MyLifeIsG?”, “Why have I never heard of MyLifeIsG?” or perhaps you’ve seen the sad “under construction” page that occupied its place for the last year. MLIG was the original site I co-founded with Guru Khalsa in the spring of 2009. It was a happy place where people could post short stories about the little victories in their lives. Since the site imploded over a year ago, I’ve intended to re-launch it – and Thanksgiving seems like a very fitting time do it. So, while millions of bleary eyed food coma patients flooded the Black Friday sales at un-natural hours of the early morning, I made the final preparations to bring MLIG back online. Drum roll please… MyLifeIsG.com is back and taking submissions!
You should make the accounts from MLIA transfer to MLIG…Instead of having to make new accounts on MLIG…Just a suggestion

Woo! Also, you might want to clarify what the G means, like you did with the whole “MLIAverage” thing up the top. Some people think that MLIG is a place to post the sort of stories that have overrun MLIA.

Okay, we really need clarification for what MLIG is all about. I just saw a submission that could belong to FML or SixBillionSecrets, I don’t think people get that it’s meant to be a happy site. And another one about Harry Potter, just now. *sigh*

Uh… so I was the one that had the “AbnormalPretzel” username on MLIG. I had heard the username before and decided I would like to have it because it is enjoyable and fits me but now it gets taken away because someone had it on a different site? How is that fair? You should have either integrated usernames or kept it first come first serve. I did not maliciously steal the username so why, because someone complains, do they get it?

You are right, that wouldn’t be fair. That is why I didn’t take it away from you.
When you register an account on MLIA and MLIG you receive an activation link in an email which you must click to complete the registration. After 2 days, the activation link expires, the registration is considered abandoned and the username is made available again. This has always been the policy on MLIA and the new MLIG.
