Pardon our dust
Over the past 48 hours, we’ve been experiencing a number of outages as we tried (at first, unsuccessfully) to move MLIA onto a more stable setup. We’ve just tried moving again and it seems to be working properly.
We think we’ve ironed out most of the wrinkles, but please bear with us if more bugs crop up. For instance, let us know if you see ‘banned remoteip’ when trying to submit a story. We know that might be a potential issue.

Hi, Whenever I try to make an account on MLIA I get “OurServerIsAverage Today, you got a 500 Error. Don’t think you are special. Lots of people are seeing this message right now. Our mediocre servers can’t handle the traffic. We are working hard to get things back to normal. Check back soon.” What does this mean?

It seems there might be a bug as far as good/bad comments go. While scrolling through my comment page, one of my comments displayed 2,751 goods, when it really only had one.

We still seem to be getting the 500 error on occasion. Also, as Admiral said, the odd goods/bads counts. Lastly I am still getting the ‘banned remoteip’ when trying to submit a story.

Other thing is, I can’t get into the upcoming submissions section. The page just doesn’t load when I use Google Chrome.

Hi, I hate to be a bother to you, but there still are a few glitches. People have mentioned the goods and bads one, which really isn’t a problem, but also, the servers keep crashing, at a different frequency for different people. Also, I just got an error saying “There are no stories” when I went to the homepage. I have to say, it freaked me out a bit.
Anyway, I just thought you’d want to have an idea of everything that’s going on with MLIA. No pressure.

Sometimes I automatically get logged out, which isn’t really that big of a deal, it’s kind of just a nuisance.
But I do enjoy having the reply box bigger because having to enlarge it manually was really a pain in my rump.

What you experience was a bug related to the random good/bad counts on comments or html under stories other people reported. I’ve made a change which should stop all of this strange behavior.

There’s still an error with creating a new account. It gives me the server error and then doesn’t send an email to me, but the username is created and is unable to be activated.
Anyway, the last thing I need is another username, but this persistent glitch would probably be an issue for new users who want to create an account. Just sayin’. Keep up the good work and stuff. <3

Hey, so everything’s been perfect lately, except I just tried to make a new username, and when I entered my email and pressed submit, I got a 500 error and I never got a confirmation email. I thought it might be a coincidence, so I tried to reset the password to my current account, and the same thing happened every time I tried. Just thought you might want to know.

Mek, I don’t know if this concerns you or not but: People are exploiting the good/bad system. See, if you delete your browser history, you can good or bad a comment as many times as you want. People are using that to stalk/troll certain commenters and keep their comments hidden. My guess at a solution, although maybe not favorable, would be to only allow registered users to good/bad.

So a ton of people are getting really pissed off about this not swearing thing. I don’t really care, because I don’t swear in real life. BUT. That’s not the point. So the point is that maybe you should have all new users when they make an account check off on something or other stating that they are aware that they are not allowed to swear on this website (because it won’t be soon before long that people start to whine about how you’re taking away their freedom of speech) because if you have something stating the rules then it’s not taking away their freedom of speech (I’m learning about the Constitution in school; isn’t that obvious…actually, I came up with this idea in school the other day). And maybe you could have it so users who already have accounts could sign of on it too. But yeah. Just an idea. I totally understand if you think this is stupid and don’t do it, or if it’s impossible and you can’t do it.

Will there ever be an option to hide all comments from our usernames? Or at least disable past usernames so that comments are not public? Something of that sort?
To me it’s a privacy issue that I would love to have resolved, especially since some of my usernames were names tied closely to who I am.
Of course, I accept full responsibility for the fact that I even feel the need to have my past be less public, but that should not discredit the request for this option.
Thank you for considering =] I don’t frequent MLIA as much as I used to, but I do still like coming on and would love a clean slate.

Uh, so can you possibly give us an approximate time the whole username and password thingo will be fixed? I’m getting tired of the newblets constantly telling you to fix it, and I’m sure you would be too, if you read this… What I’m trying to say is; when are we gonna get back the ability to make usernames?

I can’t get registered into MLIA, is there any way you can fix it? I keep getting the error code, and other times I get this name is in use when I’ve tried random crap to see if it’ll work(things like gsdhgdh9945). No activation email at all either.

Hey so, about the bugs we were chatting about… I’m not going to complain about the word ban, whatever it’s your site. But some words, like “cockroach” aren’t about to be said simply because they have “cock” in it. I’m sure you’ve heard plenty about the whole not being able to make an account. Lastly, is there any way you can frequent the site a little more often to try and filter out some of the cliche, repeat, commenting on posts posts?
