the official MLIA blog

Life is pretty normal today

Welcome!

Dear MLIA reader,

Here at MLIA staff headquarters, surrounded by other small apartments and the loud noise of a garbage truck, we strive to be average in almost everything we do. We have a strong commitment to being average. We love average.

Because of this, we thought that the most average way to keep everyone up to date with what’s going on behind the scenes at MLIA was by using a blog. Blogs are so average that there’s even a blog about chairs.

So what is going on in MLIA-land?

Well, first we would like to congratulate everyone who has raised money for charity by buying an MLIA t-shirt. We’re donating 100% of the t-shirt profit from December to charity… but wait! THERE’S MORE! Inspired by some of the suggestions on the fan page, we’ve decided that we want to get a freshwater well for a village that doesn’t have one, through charitywater.org. Why ? BECAUSE WATER IS AVERAGE. Everyone should have access to clean drinking water.

Before Christmas we donated the first half of December’s t-shirt sales ($3,500!!!) to Toys for Tots, because Christmas presents are average. Now we’re shooting for an entire freshwater well for a village, and we’re going to keep donating all t-shirt sale profits until we get there. A well costs $5,000, and you raised $1,500 dollars from last December already. So grab an MLIA t-shirt here, because water is average.

What else is going on in MLIA-land?

Loads of things. We’ll keep you updated here, and to celebrate the new blog we’ll leave you with this MLIA.

Today, I was listening to the radio and heard an interview with a woman who shunned any form of electronics. At the end the news caster mentioned something along the lines of, “You can read about this in further depth on her blog.” Ah, the irony. MLIA

    • Carefull when commenting with the word comment, it can creat other alternate dimensions in the space-time continuum, skew us into an alternate tangent, and cause chaos. Where is this blog, nothings showing up on ta screen..

  17. You should start reading the comments. Some of us only come to MLIA for the comments and to make fun of the stories. Sad, but true. I really hope the stories become average again.

    KevinSoftTaco

    January 20, 2010 at 9:27 pm

    • True that. The caliber of stories actually being voted through is terrible. Comments are awesomesauce in digital form.

        February 19, 2010 at 9:31 am

    • We have and we understand that some people prefer the old MLIA, some prefer the new and some like the mid-life crisis MLIA, but who are we to decide which is best. The community has always decided which stories to publish and we would like to keep it that way. Having said that, we are looking at the possibility of creating a new section on the site with hand picked stories; stories that are more… average.

      Mek

      January 21, 2010 at 6:36 am

      • If this is mid-life crisis MLIA, I’m looking forward to the golden oldies MLIA. Because, you know, my faith in old people has been restored and all that jazz.

        OctoPie

        January 21, 2010 at 10:23 pm

      • The idea of a new section with actual current, average stories would be….a blessing. Absolutely terrific idea.

But Keeping the main stories up to the voters is something you shouldn’t ever delete, because I guess that’s the majority.

        KevinSoftTaco

        January 22, 2010 at 6:14 pm

      • OH! There should be a test! So that all voters must prove their averageness!
..Nevermind. Terrible idea. My brain exploded. Apologies.

        January 22, 2010 at 7:36 pm

  19. i do also still like the fact that the mlia community gets to vote on submissions… however, i feel like most of the people who care about what does and does not get posted are those with accounts on the site. maybe voting should be exclusive to members? also, pardon my lack of capitalization, i am using my cellular device to post this. :)

    samantha

    January 23, 2010 at 11:40 am

    • Um, are you kidding? They have to be voted on. Only ones with x amount of averages are published.

      • You should make it customizable, so people can say what time zone they want to be in, and then have their things on each one, like best for each day, and all that :) And I know that most people who do this are either American or Canadian, but the average person in the world isn’t? Thanks

But anyways, i put two stories up like 3 months ago. and still nothing. i know you guys are probably tired of hearing people complain about how come their stories Never get published on here. but it kind of aggrivates me whenever im looking through really stupid stories that are published, when their are A LOT of potiential stories that actually make sense and are funny, that are not published. It honestly doesnot make any sense here. Anyways i was just wondering what was going on with that. =D thanks.
